Philips has this week announced the launch of a new energy efficient LED bulb that will be priced at just $5 when it launches next month and is available to purchase from Home Depot stores throughout the US.
The new affordable Phillips LED bulb is part of the latest Phillips A19 product range and is being introduced as a 60-watt LED equivalent bulb that costs just “$4.97 without utility rebates”, says Phillips.
Making the new LED bulb the most affordable 60 watt LED bulb currently on the market as well as just using 8.5 watts of power.
Over the 10-year life the 60-watt, LED bulb equivalent will cost consumers just $1.02 per year to run, saving $62 over the life of the bulb when compared to a traditional incandescent. Amy Huntington, president of Philips Lighting Americas explains :
“From the introduction of SlimStyle to our premium offerings that dim with a warm, familiar glow and this latest offering, Philips has continued to innovate and drive affordability and choice in the consumer LED market,”-“However, we also understand that quality LEDs should not be a luxury or something that only those that live in areas with robust utility rebate programs can afford. With this bulb, consumers have a quality, day-to-day option for any area in their home that is as good for their wallet as it is for the environment.”
