Apple’s iPhone 6S has a 4.7 inch display and their 6S Plus has a 5.5 inch display, we have been hearing rumors for a while that the company will launch a smaller version of the handset with a 4 inch display.
The handset will not be like the iPhone 5C with a plastic casing, instead it will basically new a smaller version of the iPhone 6S and will come with the same design and color options.
The news comes from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who has a good track record with Apple predication and pays close attention to Apple’s supply chain.
As there is still demand for a 4-inch iPhone, we believe Apple will upgrade this product line. Because the iPhone 5s is more popular than the iPhone 5c, we think Apple is likely to launch an upgraded iPhone 5s. We predict Apple will mass-produce this new 4-inch iPhone in 1H16 with metal casings. In order to make the current iOS 9 or next-generation iOS 10 run smoothly, Apple may adopt an A9 chip for this new phone.
A 4 inch iPhone would definitely fit into Apple’s lineup and would appeal to customers who want the latest processor and technology but with a smaller display.
The device is expected to launch in the earlier part of 2015, probably some time in the first quarter or early in the second quarter.
