Nest the smart thermostat company acquired by Google for $3.2 billion and that recently itself acquired Dropcam for $555 Million.
Has this week announced the launch of its new Nest developer program which has been created to enable other applications and services to connect to its range of smart and connected products. Watch the video after the jump to learn more.
Currently the Nest product line includes smart thermostats and smoke alarms but you can expect more smart products for the home to be launched in the near future. Nest explains more about their new Nest Developer Program:
“What we’re doing is making it possible for your Nest devices to securely interact with the things you already use every day. Things like lights, appliances, fitness bands and even cars.
Because when we make connections between these different parts of your life, we can create personalized experiences that do even more to keep you comfortable and safe,”
The Nest range of devices will also be able to connect to some Google applications, however users will be able to maintain full control over what information is passed back to the Google servers to help keep their privacy under control, says Google.
