Microsoft just dropped us an email to let us know that they will officially unveil IE9 at the SXSWi, on Monday the 14th of March, and we suspect Microsoft are hoping that this latest version of Internet Explorer will help the browser become more popular.
Microsoft’s Internet Explorer has become less and less popular, with browsers like Mozilla Firefox and Google’s Chrome becoming popular amongst many Internet users.
IE9 is the most downloaded browser of all time with over 40 million downloads in the beta timeframe and already over 2% usage share on Windows 7. Customers and developers are taking advantage of IE9’s features including better interoperability, performance through hardware acceleration and the power of the PC. This together with a UI that puts their site at the center of the browsing and Windows experience brings the beauty of the web to life.
It will be interesting to see how well received IE9 is amongst Internet users and whether Microsoft will be able to claw back some ground from rival browsers remains to be seen.
