LG has been using webOS in their Smart TVs since the company purchased the mobile operating system from HP, and now it would appear that LG has other plans for the OS, an LG webOS Smartwatch.
The guys from The Verge have discovered a new LG developer website which teases a new SDK (Software Development Kit) for a webOS smartwatch.
LG already has a number of smart watches on the market, although these run Google’s Android Wear, the LG G Watch and the LG G Watch R (pictured above).
The majority of Samsung’s smart watches run Tizen, as the company has been looking for alternatives to Android, and now LG may be planning to do the same with a new LG webOS smartwatch.
As yet there are no details on this new webOS based wearable from LG, the developer page, which you can see at the link below, now appears to be showing a 403 forbidden page. It will be interesting to see what LG comes up with, and whether they are able to develo0p a webOS powered smartwatch that people are interested in.
As soon as we get some more details on exactly what LG’s plans are for a new wearable device powered by webOS, we will let you guys know.
