LG has launched a new 4K Ultra HD IPS monitor this week in the form of the massive 42.5 inch LG 43UD79-B display which comes complete with FreeSync support and can be split into a number of different views offering 4 monitors in one display.
The 42.5-inch display has a native UHD resolution of 3840 x 2160 with a conventional refresh rate of 60Hz and is now available to preorder for around $700 and is expected to be made available later this week on May 9th, 2017.
Advanced Features and Connectivity
Features of the new 42.5 inch monitor include LG’s Dual Controller feature, which essentially turns the monitor into a KVM switch, 2 x USB 3.0 ports enabling users to connect the monitor to two computers and control both systems from that single mouse/keyboard if desired. This feature is particularly useful for professionals who need to manage multiple systems simultaneously without the hassle of switching peripherals.
In terms of connectivity, the LG 43UD79-B is well-equipped. There are 2 x HDMI 2.0 inputs (4K @ 60Hz), 2 x HDMI 1.4 inputs (4K @ 30Hz), 1 x USB 3.1 Type-C port that can operate in DP Alt Mode and thus carry a DisplayPort signal, and one DisplayPort 1.2a input (4K @ 60Hz) that supports the aforementioned FreeSync feature. This wide array of ports ensures that the monitor can be connected to a variety of devices, from gaming consoles to high-end PCs, making it a versatile addition to any setup.
Enhanced User Experience
The LG 43UD79-B also boasts several features aimed at enhancing the user experience. The monitor’s ability to split into four different views is a standout feature, allowing users to multitask efficiently. This is particularly beneficial for video editors, graphic designers, and financial analysts who often need to view multiple data streams simultaneously. The large screen real estate combined with the high resolution ensures that each split screen maintains clarity and detail.
Moreover, the inclusion of FreeSync technology is a boon for gamers. FreeSync helps to eliminate screen tearing and stuttering, providing a smoother gaming experience. This, combined with the monitor’s 60Hz refresh rate, makes it a solid choice for both casual and competitive gamers.
The monitor also includes built-in speakers, which, while not a replacement for a dedicated sound system, provide decent audio quality for everyday use. This can be particularly useful in office environments where desk space is at a premium.
Practical Applications and Use Cases
The LG 43UD79-B is not just for gamers and professionals; it also has practical applications in various fields. For instance, in a corporate setting, the ability to display multiple inputs simultaneously can be invaluable during meetings and presentations. It allows for seamless switching between different data sources, making it easier to compare information and make informed decisions.
In educational environments, the large screen and high resolution can enhance the learning experience by providing clear and detailed visuals. Teachers can display multiple resources at once, such as slides, videos, and interactive content, making lessons more engaging and informative.
For home use, the monitor’s versatility means it can serve as both a high-end entertainment center and a productivity hub. Whether you’re streaming 4K content, working from home, or managing a smart home setup, the LG 43UD79-B offers the flexibility and performance needed to handle a wide range of tasks.
The LG 43UD79-B is a feature-rich 4K Ultra HD IPS monitor that offers a blend of performance, versatility, and advanced features. Its ability to function as multiple monitors in one, combined with extensive connectivity options and user-friendly features, makes it a valuable addition to any setup. Whether you’re a professional, gamer, or home user, this monitor is designed to meet a variety of needs and enhance your overall experience.
