One of the first to purchase the new iPhone 6 Plus smartphone was the iFixit team, who has already published their iPhone 6 Plus teardown video, photos and documents revealing what Apple has created within the slim casing.
To re-cap the new Apple iPhone 6 Plus measures 158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1mm in size and weighs 172 grams and is equipped with a new 8-megapixel iSight camera with 1.5µ pixels offering Autofocus with Focus Pixels and a ƒ/2.2 aperture, together with Optical image stabilisation which is exclusive to the iPhone 6 Plus smartphone.
The iPhone 6 Plus is fitted with a 5.5-inch IPS LED-backlit widescreen touchscreen display offering a full Retina HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a 401ppi with 1300:1 contrast ratio. iFixit explains a little more :
“Back in 2010, Steve Jobs famously said, “no one is going to buy a big phone.” Well, with most people waiting a month for their pre-ordered iPhone 6 Plus to arrive, we’d say that people are buying big phones, or that supply is severely limited. We couldn’t wait a month, so we sent our teardown crew to Melbourne, Australia to be the first in line to get the 6 Plus. Let’s take a look at how this giant is put together and tear it down.”
