If you managed to order an iPhone 4 here in the UK yesterday from Apple you should get it by June the 24th, it looks like the shipping date for anyone pre-ordering the iPhone 4 from now onwards will have to wait until the 2nd of July 2010.
Apple has obviously sold out its initial batch of iPhone 4’s that were allocated for pre-orders. Yesterday the Apple online store went down as soon a pre-ordering started and it took us three hours before we managed to order our iPhone 4.
We are still waiting for the five UK mobile carriers to announce the iPhone 4 on monthly contracts, and the impression we get from some of them is that Apple are the ones stopping them from selling the iPhone 4 on monthly contracts.
A number of the UK operators have told us that as soon as they get the go ahead from Apple, they will start selling the iPhone 4 on monthly contracts. We are expecting announcements from Orange and Vodafone either today or tomorrow.
O2 have told us that you won’t be able to pre-order the iPhone from them, and will have to purchase it on launch day, they did say you would be able to pre-order it on their network from the Carphone Warehouse although they couldn’t tell us when this would be available.
Those of us who managed to pre-order an iPhone 4 yesterday also have another problem, getting our hands on a Micro SIM card for the iPhone 4. We have put together a handy guide on how to get a Micro SIM for the iPhone 4 which we will be updating regularly when more information is available.
