We are expecting Apple to announce their new iPad 5 over the next couple of months, and now according to a recent report, the iPad 5 is expected to be thinner and lighter than the current generation iPad 4.
According to KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPad 5 is expected to be around 15 percent thinner than the iPad 4 and also around 25 percent lighter than the current model.
We think the tablet will, at 7.5-8.0mm, be 15% thinner than iPad 4. The new device will likely be about 500 grams, or some 25% lighter than iPad 4, run on an A7X processor, and sport cameras with similar specs to the iPad 4’s (front HD, rear 5MP). The casing shape and color (silver and black) and narrow bezel design will be similar to the iPad mini’s.
Advanced Display Technology
The iPad 5 is expected to use the same GF2 technology that is used in the current generation iPad Mini, which would allow Apple to design a thinner display for the new iPad 5. This technology not only contributes to the device’s slim profile but also enhances the touch sensitivity and overall display quality. The GF2 technology involves a thinner layer of touch sensors, which helps in reducing the overall thickness of the display assembly. This advancement is crucial for maintaining the device’s durability while achieving a lighter and more portable form factor.
Enhanced Performance and Features
As well as the new slimmer and lighter design, we are also expecting the iPad 5 to come with a faster processor, more RAM, and updated cameras. The A7X processor is anticipated to bring significant performance improvements, making the iPad 5 more efficient for multitasking and running high-performance applications. This new processor is expected to be more power-efficient, which could potentially extend the battery life of the device, a critical factor for users who rely on their iPads for prolonged periods.
The increase in RAM will likely enhance the device’s ability to handle more applications simultaneously, providing a smoother and more responsive user experience. This is particularly beneficial for professionals and creatives who use resource-intensive apps for tasks such as video editing, graphic design, and gaming.
The camera system on the iPad 5 is also expected to see improvements. While the front HD camera and the rear 5MP camera are expected to have similar specifications to the iPad 4, advancements in image processing technology could result in better photo and video quality. This would be a welcome upgrade for users who use their iPads for photography, video calls, and content creation.
Additionally, the iPad 5 is rumored to feature a narrow bezel design similar to the iPad Mini, which would provide a larger display area without increasing the overall size of the device. This design choice aligns with the trend of maximizing screen real estate while maintaining a compact and portable form factor.
In terms of connectivity, the iPad 5 is expected to support the latest Wi-Fi standards and possibly include enhanced LTE capabilities for faster and more reliable internet access. This would be particularly beneficial for users who need to stay connected while on the go.
As soon as we get some more information, we will let you guys know. The anticipation for the iPad 5 is building, and it is expected to set new standards in the tablet market with its innovative design and advanced features.
