A development team at IVS Engineering, based in Boblingen, Germany. Has this week launched a new Kickstarter campaign to raise the €90,000 they require to take their new motion capture platform into production.
Aptly named IMUtion the new motion capture platform offers both a modular and wireless development platform that is both flexible and easy-to-use. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about IMUtion and its features.
The development team responsible for IMUtion explain a little more about its inspiration, development and features.
IMUtion is a combination of the words inertial measurement unit (IMU) and motion and we designed it to be an easy-to-use development-platform for motion-capturing-applications.
Our base-board includes a BT-4.2.-SoC-module with an ARM-M4F-micro-processor, an advanced 9-DoF-inertial-sensor and 16 MB of flash memory. Additionaly it also has a basic HMI with a power/reset-button, two LEDs and a micro-USB-interface. Currently we are able to connect up to 7 IMUtion-prototypes via BT-LE to one host system simultaneously (maximum in Android). With the usage of a BT-5.0-ready-SoC for our new PCB we are hoping to overcome this limitation as soon as BT-5.0 is released.
In order to precisely fit the requirements of your application, we wanted to provide a highly modular concept for additional components to our base-module (shown above), that allows you to customize your IMUtion-platform in any way you want.
If you want to use IMUtion directly out-of-the-box, we got a couple package-versions ready for you, that already include for example a waterproof case, a 240mAH-lipo-pack and a LCD-display for showing status- and orientitation-informations.
