The new Huawei Mate 30 and Huawei Mate 30 Pro smartphones launched recently and now we get to have a look at the handsets in a new video.
The video from Unbox Therapy gives us a look at the design and also some of the features on the new Mate 30 smartphones.
Design and Display
The Mate 30 Pro comes with some high-end specifications that include a 6.53-inch OLED display with a FHD+ resolution. This display is not just large but also boasts vibrant colors and deep blacks, making it ideal for media consumption and gaming. The curved edges of the screen add a premium feel to the device, and the notch at the top houses advanced facial recognition technology. The Mate 30, on the other hand, features a slightly smaller 6.62-inch OLED display, which still offers an impressive visual experience.
Performance and Hardware
Under the hood, the Mate 30 Pro is powered by Huawei’s Kirin 990 processor, which is designed to deliver top-notch performance and efficiency. This chipset is paired with 8GB of RAM, ensuring smooth multitasking and quick app launches. The Kirin 990 also supports 5G connectivity, making the Mate 30 Pro future-proof for the next generation of mobile networks. The Mate 30 also features the Kirin 990 processor but comes with 6GB of RAM, which is still more than sufficient for most users.
The handset features four cameras on the back, including two 40-megapixel cameras, one 8-megapixel camera, and a 3D TOF camera. The primary 40-megapixel camera is designed for capturing high-resolution photos with excellent detail and color accuracy. The second 40-megapixel camera is an ultra-wide-angle lens, perfect for landscape photography and group shots. The 8-megapixel camera is a telephoto lens that offers optical zoom capabilities, allowing you to get closer to your subject without losing image quality. The 3D TOF camera is used for depth sensing, enabling advanced portrait mode effects and improved augmented reality experiences.
In addition to its impressive camera setup, the Mate 30 Pro also features a large 4,500mAh battery, which supports fast charging and wireless charging. This ensures that you can use your phone throughout the day without worrying about running out of power. The Mate 30 comes with a slightly smaller 4,200mAh battery, which still offers excellent battery life.
Software and Features
Both the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro run on Huawei’s EMUI 10, which is based on Android 10. EMUI 10 offers a range of customization options and features, including a system-wide dark mode, improved gesture navigation, and enhanced privacy settings. However, due to the ongoing trade restrictions between the US and China, these devices do not come with Google Mobile Services pre-installed. Instead, Huawei has developed its own suite of apps and services, including the Huawei AppGallery, which serves as an alternative to the Google Play Store.
The Mate 30 Pro also includes several innovative features, such as an in-display fingerprint scanner and advanced facial recognition technology for secure and convenient unlocking. The device also supports Huawei’s M-Pen stylus, which allows for precise input and drawing, making it an excellent choice for creative professionals and note-takers.
The Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro are impressive smartphones that offer a range of high-end features and specifications. With their stunning displays, powerful performance, and advanced camera systems, these devices are sure to appeal to tech enthusiasts and mobile photographers alike. Despite the lack of Google Mobile Services, Huawei’s alternative ecosystem provides a viable option for users looking for a premium smartphone experience.
