HTC Vive Pro Headset Unveiled Offering Improved Audio And Higher Resolution

HTC Vive Pro Headset

At CES 2018 this week in Las Vegas, HTC Vive has unveiled a new virtual reality HMD upgrade it has created In the form of the Vive Pro to provide VR gamers and enthusiasts with improved audio and higher resolution display. The new VR headset upgrade is expected to be made available sometime during 2018 and has been created explicitly for VR enthusiast and enterprise users searching for the best display and audio for their VR experiences, says Vive.

The Vive Pro upgrade includes dual-OLED displays offering users a combined resolution of 2880 x 1600 pixels. A massive 78 percent increase in resolution over the current Vive HMD and a 37 percent PPI increase to hopefully remove or at least reduce any screen door affects that are sometimes visible during gameplay.

The new HTC Vive Pro VR headset is also equipped with a new head strap and audio system which builds upon the previously launched Vive Deluxe Audio Strap that improves the ergonomics of the HTC Vive VR headset considerably, making it much easier to adjust its fitting for a more comfortable experience. The new Vive Pro is fitted with integrated, high-performance headphones that include a built-in amplifier to offer a “heightened sense of presence and an overall richer sound”, says Vive.

Together with a dial on the rear of the headset strap for easy fitting, and creating a more balanced headset, decreasing the weight applied to the front of the headset. Daniel O’Brien, GM U.S., VIVE explains more :
