The Facebook bed, otherwise known as the Fbed, has been designed by Tomislav Zvonarić, and allows those addicted to staying up to date with their Facebook updates a place to grab a little shut eye in between typing.
As you can see from the images below, the Facebook Bed has been designed using the Facebook “f” logo turned on its side. At one end, there is a space for your computers connected directly to your Facebook pages and a sleeping area at the other. Although you will need to stay cross-legged or a little cramped when using the computer, as leg space is at a premium.
The humorous concept created for the most passionate of Facebook users is even equipped with a handy cup holder to keep your mountain dew in place whilst you surf. The Facebook bed’s creator, Tomislav Zvonarić, explains:
“FBed is a conceptual multipractical bed design that would allow you always to be up to date and close to your online friends even when you sleep. The idea is that you may hoop in front of your screen directly from your bed when you wake up, and inverse when you get tired and want to go sleep…”
Design and Functionality
The Fbed is not just a bed; it’s a lifestyle statement for the digital age. The design cleverly integrates the iconic Facebook “f” logo, making it instantly recognizable and appealing to social media enthusiasts. The bed’s structure is divided into two main sections: the workspace and the sleeping area. The workspace is designed to hold your computer or laptop, allowing you to stay connected to your Facebook feed without ever leaving the comfort of your bed. This setup is perfect for those who work from home or spend a significant amount of time online.
However, the design does come with some limitations. The leg space in the workspace area is quite limited, requiring users to sit cross-legged or in a cramped position. This could potentially lead to discomfort during extended use. Despite this, the Fbed offers a unique solution for those who prioritize their online presence and need a dedicated space to manage their social media activities.
Additional Features and Practicality
Beyond its basic design, the Fbed includes several thoughtful features aimed at enhancing user experience. One such feature is the built-in cup holder, strategically placed to keep your drink within arm’s reach. This small but significant addition ensures that you can stay hydrated and refreshed while browsing through your Facebook updates.
Another interesting aspect of the Fbed is its potential for customization. While the current design focuses on Facebook, the concept could easily be adapted for other social media platforms or even for general computer use. Imagine a bed designed specifically for gamers, with built-in storage for controllers and game discs, or a bed tailored for writers, with a small bookshelf and a reading light. The possibilities are endless, making the Fbed a versatile piece of furniture that can be adapted to suit various needs and preferences.
The Fbed also sparks a broader conversation about the integration of technology into our daily lives. As we become increasingly reliant on digital devices, the line between work and relaxation continues to blur. The Fbed embodies this trend, offering a seamless transition between online activities and rest. However, it also raises questions about the impact of constant connectivity on our well-being. While the Fbed provides convenience and efficiency, it’s essential to strike a balance and ensure that we take time to disconnect and recharge.
The Facebook bed, or Fbed, is a fascinating concept that caters to the needs of modern social media enthusiasts. Designed by Tomislav Zvonarić, it offers a unique blend of functionality and humor, making it a standout piece of furniture for those who live and breathe Facebook. While it may not be the most practical solution for everyone, it certainly highlights the growing influence of technology in our lives and the creative ways we can integrate it into our living spaces.
