Developers, makers or hobbyists searching for an easy way to measure liquid levels may be interested in a new addition to the range of electronic products from Adafruit this week, with the arrival of the new 5″ eTape Liquid Level Sensor complete with plastic casing. The solid-state sensor liquid level sensor provides a resistive output that varies with the level of the fluid and removes the need for mechanical floats.
Designed to easily interface with electronic control systems the sensitive eTape Liquid Sensors is encased in a hard plastic jacket, making it less susceptible to damage. The 5″ eTape Liquid Level Sensor is now available to purchase direct from the Adafruit online store priced at $59.95..
“The eTape sensor’s envelope is compressed by the hydrostatic pressure of the fluid in which it is immersed. This results in a change in resistance that corresponds to the distance from the top of the sensor to the surface of the fluid. The sensor’s resistive output is inversely proportional to the height of the liquid: the lower the liquid level, the higher the output resistance; the higher the liquid level, the lower the output resistance.”
The eTape Liquid Level Sensor is available in a number of different lengths depending on your requirements, offering 5, 8 and 12 inch sensors. Jump over to the official Adafruit online store for more details and purchasing options.
