The processor manufacturing arm of Creative, ZiiLABS, has today unveiled two new processors it has been developing, the ZMS-20 and ZMS-40. The new processors have been specifically designed for high-resolution Android tablets and are currently ZiiLABS’ most powerful Zii family of energy-efficient media processors.
The ZMS-20 combines 48 Stemcell media processing cores and Dual-Core 1.5GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processors, while the Quad-Core ZMS-40 delivers an aggregated Cortex-A9 clock speed of up to 6GHz and scales up total performance to 100 processing cores.
Innovative Features of ZMS-20 and ZMS-40
ZiiLABS explains:
With multi-core application acceleration and dynamic power management for longer battery life, the ZMS-20 delivers the efficient and high-performance platform required for the next generation of Android 3.0 based devices and beyond.
The ZMS-20 and ZMS-40 processors are designed to meet the increasing demands of modern mobile devices. The ZMS-20, with its 48 Stemcell media processing cores, is optimized for multimedia applications, providing enhanced video playback, gaming, and high-definition video recording capabilities. The dual-core 1.5GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processors ensure that the device can handle multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising performance.
On the other hand, the ZMS-40 takes performance to the next level with its quad-core architecture. The aggregated Cortex-A9 clock speed of up to 6GHz means that the ZMS-40 can handle even more intensive applications and multitasking scenarios. This makes it an ideal choice for high-end tablets and other devices that require top-tier performance.
Applications and Future Prospects
The introduction of these processors is a significant step forward for ZiiLABS and the broader technology industry. High-resolution Android tablets equipped with ZMS-20 and ZMS-40 processors will be able to deliver a superior user experience, with faster processing speeds, better graphics, and longer battery life. This is particularly important as consumers increasingly use their tablets for a wide range of activities, from streaming video to playing games to working on the go.
Moreover, the energy-efficient design of these processors means that devices can offer longer battery life without sacrificing performance. This is a critical consideration for mobile devices, as users expect their tablets and smartphones to last throughout the day on a single charge.
The ZMS-20 and ZMS-40 processors also open up new possibilities for developers. With more processing power and better graphics capabilities, developers can create more complex and engaging applications. This could lead to a new wave of innovative apps and services that take full advantage of the capabilities of these processors.
