Hardware PC peripheral and component manufacturer Corsair has this week announced they have acquired the German streaming and accessory maker Elgato Gaming, to make a move into the live streaming market. Elgato’s connected home business, Elgato Eve, will continue as an independent, separate entity under the name Eve Systems.
Strategic Move into Live Streaming
Corsair’s acquisition of Elgato Gaming marks a significant strategic move into the burgeoning live streaming market. Live streaming has seen exponential growth in recent years, driven by platforms like Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook Gaming. By acquiring Elgato Gaming, Corsair is positioning itself to become a key player in this rapidly expanding industry. Elgato Gaming is renowned for its high-quality streaming hardware and software solutions, including capture cards, stream decks, and green screens, which are essential tools for content creators.
At the current time, Corsair has not revealed any details on what they have planned for the live streaming service, but as small details become apparent, we will keep you up to speed as always. This acquisition could potentially lead to the development of new and innovative streaming products that integrate seamlessly with Corsair’s existing lineup of gaming peripherals and components.
Elgato’s Legacy and Future
“Elgato combines software with elegant hardware to create app-powered lifestyle technology defined by comfort, convenience, and control. Since the launch of the award-winning EyeTV collection in 2002, the brand has evolved to embody Eve, an ecosystem of accessories for the connected home – and Elgato Gaming, a series of content creation tools for the connected generation. Designed in Germany and California, Elgato products are distributed by major retailers in over eighty countries around the world.”
Elgato’s legacy in the tech industry is impressive. The EyeTV collection, which allowed users to watch and record live television on their computers, was a game-changer when it was launched. Over the years, Elgato has continued to innovate, expanding its product lineup to include a wide range of accessories for both the connected home and the gaming community. The Elgato Eve line, which focuses on smart home devices, will continue to operate independently under the new name Eve Systems. This separation allows Elgato Gaming to focus solely on the needs of content creators and streamers.
