A new desktop 3D printer will be launching later this month created by Mexican company Colibrí 3D. The new Colibrí HOME 3D printer will be available to purchase from July 30th and will be priced at just $300.
The new HOME 3D printer has been designed to provide a build volume of 100 x 100 x 120mm in size and uses FFF/FDM 3D printing technology and will be available in the US and Mexico to start.
The Colibrí HOME offers a layer resolution between 0.1mm and 0.3mm and uses a PLA filament of 3mm in thickness. The nozzle diameter is 0.4mm as standard but both 0.35mm and 0.5mm nozzles are also available as add-ons. The system supports any CAD files in the format of STL, CIL or Gcode and has been designed for homes and school environments. Colibrí 3D explains more :
The idea is to bring this technology to Mexican households with a more affordable product, so anyone can create parts and accessories for their homes, customized toys, and simple school projects,” Santos explained. “This is why InterLatin is looking to approach the Mexican Government in order to develop a subsidy program that allows them to provide 3D printers to schools in the country, so children and teenagers can use this technology as an advanced learning tool.
