Google unveiled the long-rumored Google Nexus 5 earlier this week, starting at £299 on the Google Play Store. The handset is also available from Carphone Warehouse and costs £295 SIM-free, which is a little less than its official retail price. But, there’s a reason why you might consider buying the handset from the retailer. The first 1,000 buyers who purchase Google Nexus 5 on a 4G contract from the retailer can grab a free Nexus 7 (2012) tablet. It might be the old model, but it still brings a very decent set of specifications when it comes to 7-inch slates.
The handset packs a 4.95-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a quad-core 2.26GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2GB RAM, 16/32GB internal storage, 8MP camera with optical image stabilization and runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. The handset costs £295 for the 16GB model and is available in two colors: black and white. Google Nexus 5 is also headed to O2 (starting from £32 per month) and Three in the UK with on-contract pricing plans.
There’s no information if the retailer has crossed the 1,000 customers mark, but you can try your luck by visiting a store near you. Let us know in the comments below if you managed to avail the offer.
