BMW has announced that it will for the first time bring the M4 GTS to the US, albeit in very limited numbers. BMW plans to make only 700 M4 GTS cars for the global market with 300 of that number coming to the States. The car packs a 493hp turbo six with the first production car water injection system ever.
BMW also fits the car with the world’s first OLED tail light tech. The car is aimed directly at track rats and is fitted with a three-way adjustable M coilover suspension system and carbon ceramic brakes. The rear seat is deleted in the car and replaced with a roll bar.
BMW took great efforts to reduce weight by eliminating weight in the chassis and the interior of the car. The water injection system has a 1.3-gallon tank in the trunk floor that needs filled about every five tanks of fuel on the road and every tank on the track. That water allows the engine to continue making max power no matter how hot it is outside. A 7-speed M double clutch transmission with paddle shifters puts the power to the ground with three different shift patterns. Pricing and availability are unannounced at this time.
