The HDDWatches are now available to purchase price at €100 for early bird backers, the designer and creator explains a little more about the unique design and features of these ultimate geeky hardware watches.
“This was originally a joke, but it stroke me. This was a GENIUS idea ! This small Hard-Disk-Drive (HDD) was exactly the right size for a watch. It took me about 4 seconds to decide to try to turn this joke into a reality.
I already had some experience with designing and producing watches (see below), so I knew I could do it. So, the journey started. I first had to find and buy the small HDD. Turned out that the Microdrive is simply perfect for this. Perfect size, and as it was almost killed by the Memory cards, the price was also perfect. Then, on to designing the case. Using Corel Draw and SolidWorks, I built the case around the size and shape of the HDD plate.”
The HDDWatches project is currently over on the Indiegogo crowd funding website looking to raise $3,500 in pledges to make the jump from concept to production. So if you think a HDDWatch is something you would like to wear, visit the Indiegogo website now to make a pledge and help HDDWatches become a reality via the link below.
