The Blub Tube Clock is the creation of designer Duncan Hellmers and offers users a 12 or 24 hr display together with an alarm and night time shutoff to make sure you can get some sleep if its on your bedside cabinet. Duncan explains a little more about the design of the Blub Tube Clock :
“I’ve always had an interest in contemporary products which use vintage/traditional technologies. They fit in well with today’s aesthetic trends but still retain that sense of nostalgia and sentimentality. Nixie tube technology is a great example of this.
I’d seen quite a few tube clock designs online, but couldn’t find one whose character matched what I was after, so I decided to design my own. The prototype clock had a lot of interest and people were asking where they could get one, so here I am on Kickstarter to help me share the design with you and others and set up a small production run.”
The Blub Tube Clock project is currently over on the Kickstarter crowd funding website looking to raise enough pledges to make the jump from concept to production and is available to pledge for starting at $369 AUD.
