ASUS have taken an innovative approach to being a little more greener with its packaging wastage on their motherboard boxes. Rather than throwing or recycling the packaging ASUS has designed its motherboard packaging to transform into a cardboard PC case allowing you to instantly get up and running with your new PC motherboard.
Examples of the new cardboard PC case design have been showcased at Cebit this week and the first motherboards packaged in the new cardboard PC case boxes are expected to ship from June 2011.
The motherboard boxes are designed with punch out holes for ventilation and a rear removable panel for the connectors and ports to be easily accesible. ASUS said the box is intended to allow PC enthusiasts to get their new computers up and running quickly while they search for the perfect case. Stating that the cardboard cases have a useable life for up to a year while you search.
The first ASUS board to use the new innovative designed packaging will be one of its Mini ATX motherboards.
