Earlier this month at the Consumers Electronics Show (CES) 2015, Asus unveiled the 5.5-inch ZenFone 2 and ZenFone Zoom.
Both handsets come with a phablet-sized form factor, but if you find it too big for your needs, a report from Taiwan suggests the company may launch a 5-inch version of the ZenFone 2 soon.
The report mentions the 5-inch ZenFone 2 will hit retail shortly after the phablet version goes on sale sometime in March.
As far as the specifications are concerned, the 5-inch variant of the device should be similar to the phablet, but we may get slightly lower RAM — it’s not confirmed. But, it is expected to offer a 5-inch full HD display with Android 5.0 goodness, 13 MP rear camera for photos and videos, 5 MP front-facing camera, and a quad-core 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 processor.
The ZenFone 2 is expected to start at $199 so we can expect the smaller version to be a little cheaper than the phablet. There’s no word from Asus about any 5-inch variant, but we’ll update you if the report turns out to be true. What are your thoughts about this?
