It looks like Apple may change the name of OS X to macOS at some point in the future as references to macOS have been discovered in the source code of OS X 10.11.4.
The news comes from developer Guilherme Rambo who told Portuguese site MacMagazine about the references to macOS that he discovered in OS X.
This new name for OS X would fall in line with the names that Apple uses for their other operating systems, the iPhone OS is called iOS, the Apple TV OS is called tvOS and the Apple Watch OS is called watch OS.
Apple is expected to reveal OS X 11 at their Worldwide Developer Conference in June and it is possible that the new OS could launch as macOS 11, of course none of this has been confirmed by Apple as yet.
