Earlier today we heard that Apple were developing some new microLED displays to use in the Apple Watch and also in future iPhones.
At the moment Samsung is one of Apple’s major suppliers for displays, the company is expected to supply the majority of the displays for this years two OLED iPhones.
Apple is apparently testing out manufacturing of these new microLED displays at a plant in California near its HQ. If the company does decide to to switch its smartphones and the Apple Watch to these new displays, it could end up costing Samsung billions in lost revenue.
Samsung is a major suppliers for displays for Apple, the company is the market leader in OLED displays and Apple is one of their biggest clients. If Apple stops using Samsung for iPhone displays it could end up costing the company a lot of money.
