Now here’s a gadget that has tons of potential. It’s from a company called E FUN and their newest baby is the APEN. It’s a stylus that makes a difference. How? The APEN converts your ugly scrawls on paper—what passes for decent penmanship these days—and converts it to digital text thanks to its sister gadget.
Notice the picture above. There’s the APEN, and the MP3 lookalike beside it is a receiver that, when activated, monitors all the movements of the pen while it’s writing. Thanks to its USB connector, the data saved by the receiver is transferred to a PC and shazam! Handwritten text is now a text file.
Other than PC connectivity, Bluetooth also lets the receiver transfer the written text to smartphones or tablets, preferably an iPad.
The other incredible feature of the APEN is it could function like a proxy computer mouse—it even has a small button for clicking.
The dual use APEN could even be used for art, as the receiver also processes drawings. Unlike a lot of gadgets these days, the APEN lives up to its own product page hype. A certified highly recommended tool for designers of every stripe, the APEN looks like a win. It’s not cheap though and currently retails for $129.99.
