It has been revealed this week that Amazon will soon be rolling out support to its new Amazon Echo for any SmartThings-compatible devices.
The support will allow users to control the SmartThings devices using commands via the newly rebranded Amazon Alexa application and will even allow users to control non-SmartThings devices that are plugged into SmartThings Power Outlets.
The news for the incoming Amazon Echo SmartThings support has spotted on a webpage on the SmartThings blog, which has now been removed by read :
We’re excited to announce that SmartThings is now compatible with Amazon Echo! For those not familiar, Amazon Echo is an Internet-connected speaker that responds to commands and questions that you ask it. (Think of it as your tall, dark, and handsome personal assistant.)
By starting sentences with “Alexa,” you can play music, hear the news, get the forecast, and now… control your SmartThings-compatible lights, switches, and anything plugged in to the SmartThings Power Outlet.
Unfortunately no information on worldwide availability has been released as yet, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always.
