A 25-minute Deus Ex Mankind Divided gameplay trailer has been made available on YouTube after being premiered at the recent E3 games event that took place in Los Angeles last week.
The latest Deus Ex game is currently under development by Eidos Montreal and will be published by Square Enix. It is the sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution, a game that launched in 2011. Mankind Divided is set two years after the events of its predecessor.
Game Setting and Plot
Deus Ex Mankind Divided is set in 2029 in the Czech Republic capital, Prague. The game picks up two years after the events of Human Revolution. Adam Jensen, the protagonist from the previous game, returns to navigate a world that is increasingly hostile towards augmented humans. The human race is now more against augments than ever before, and Adam Jensen is trying to change their opinions. The game delves deep into themes of segregation, fear, and the ethical implications of human augmentation.
The developers have emphasized that the game will explore the social and political ramifications of human augmentation. Players will find themselves in a world where augmented individuals are treated as outcasts and are forced to live in segregated ghettos. This setting provides a rich backdrop for storytelling and character development, making the game not just an action-packed adventure but also a thought-provoking experience.
Gameplay and Features
The Deus Ex Mankind Divided game will be launching in the first half of next year on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The demo video below uses activated full life, energy, and ammo and includes commentary from Deus Ex Executive Audio Director, Steve Szczepkowski. The gameplay footage showcases a variety of new features and improvements over its predecessor.
One of the most notable features is the improved AI, which makes enemies more challenging and realistic. The game also introduces new augmentations for Adam Jensen, giving players more options for combat and stealth. For example, the new Titan Shield augmentation allows Jensen to become temporarily invulnerable, adding a new layer of strategy to encounters.
The E3 Deus Ex Mankind Divided gameplay footage was captured using an Alpha build of the game and does not represent the final quality of the game. However, even in its early stages, the game looks promising with its detailed environments, fluid animations, and atmospheric lighting.
The demo also highlights the game’s non-linear approach to missions. Players can choose to tackle objectives in multiple ways, whether through brute force, stealth, or hacking. This flexibility ensures that each playthrough can be a unique experience, catering to different playstyles.
In addition to the main storyline, the game will feature various side missions that delve deeper into the world and its characters. These side missions are designed to be meaningful and impactful, offering players additional context and background information that enrich the overall narrative.
The developers have also promised a more immersive and interactive world. Players will be able to explore detailed environments, interact with NPCs, and uncover hidden secrets. The game aims to create a living, breathing world that reacts to the player’s actions and decisions.
