Russian search engine Yandex has today announced the launch of a new smart speaker in the form of the Yandex.Station which is equipped with Yandex’s Russian-speaking intelligent assistant, Alice. The new speaker has been created to expand the Alice Intelligent Assistant Ecosystem further after launching Alice back in October 2017.
As with other personal assistant speakers Alice is built with advanced conversational skills and understanding enabling users to ask questions and install additional skills which at the current time stand at 4,000. Offering additional services and functionality for companies such as Reebok, S7 Airlines and more. “With the introduction of Yandex.Station, we are excited to bring our intelligent assistant from mobile devices into the Russian home,” says Konstantin Kruglov, Director of Experimental Products at Yandex. “Our high-quality smart speaker offers Russian users the benefits of a highly localized intelligent assistant, unique options for audio and video streaming, and superior sound quality.”
The Yandex.Station is equipped with two 20mm 10W tweeter drivers, one 85mm 30W woofer driver, two 95mm passive radiators and offers Bluetooth connectivity and measures 14 х 14 х 23cm in size. The system is capable of providing 50W of power at a frequency range: 50-20,000Hz and signal-to-noise ratio of 96dB. The Yandex.Station Bluetooth speaker is priced at 9,990 roubles or roughly $160 and will be available during the summer months of 2018.
