Foxtel the Australian Pay TV provide has partnered with Microsoft to provide Xbox Live TV. The new service to be launched in Australian will provide users with over 30 channels direct to their Xbox’s.
To receive the services you will require a Xbox LIVE Gold subscription, broadband connection (make sure you have a healthy download allowance) and a Foxtel by Xbox LIVE subscription.
The move follows similar partnerships that Microsoft has struck within Europe with Canal+ in France and BSkyB in the UK. Unfortunately there’s currently still no comparable service in the US.
The Australian Xbox TV service will allow users access to major channels : FOX Sports, Nickelodeon, Discovery, Disney and MTV and also provide a section of video on demand channels as well providing films and TV series. Another feature included in the service is an online chat function that allows you to chat to friends while watching sports or movies, for example.
The service is looking to go live towards the end of 2010 when package prices and channel bundles will be released.
