A new watch in the form of the Piaget Altiplano 900P has set claim to be the worlds tinniest watch and is .4mm thinner than the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Jubilee.
The new Piaget Altiplano 900P has been created to celebrate the watchmakers 140th anniversary and is currently the world’s thinnest mechanical watch. The design of the Piaget Altiplano 900P includes a case and movement which are one unit making it impossible for the watches movement to be removed from the case for maintenance.
To be able to create the world’s thinnest mechanical watch Piaget has needed to use every ounce of their 140 years of watchmaking experience to create it. Using a number of innovative design choices to help make the watch as thin as possible, by using the caseback as the baseplate for the movement components and the dial is smaller and positioned off-center and set into the bridges to save every mm in thickness.
The Piaget Altiplano 900P includes a manually-wound nexganism and 38mm case, power reserve of 48 hours and comes supplied with a black alligator strap with a matching white gold pin buckle and available in 18k white gold and will be priced between $20,000 and $30,000.
