AFX MIDI based in New York has created a new Rotary DJ midi mixer which they are saying is the very first. The development team have taken to the Kickstarter crowdfunding website this month to raise the $40,000 they require to take their very unique DJ midi mixer to market.
The RMC-1 midi mixer has been designed to offer a controller that is capable of emulating the look and feel of classic analogue Rotary DJ mixers and offers the ability to set up the controller however you like using MIDI mapping.
Watch the video below to learn more about the RMC-1 MIDI controller, designed to duplicate the experience of mixing on a rotary DJ mixer. Its creators explain a little more about its inspiration, design and functionality.
Hello there fellow Kickstarters! We just wanted to start off with a warm welcome. Like many of you viewing this project, we’re passionate DJ’s with a love for technology, and this project was nothing but a labor of love. We saw a void in the market for a high-quality “rotary MIDI mixer”, and after a great deal of experimentation, design and testing, we feel we have come up with something unique and fun to use!
What exactly is the RMC-1? The RMC-1 is a MIDI controller, designed to duplicate the experience of mixing on a rotary DJ mixer. It uses the same high-quality components used on the finest rotary dj mixers costing thousands of dollars. Yet, offers exciting new mixing possibilities as a MIDI mixer.
Is it an audio mixer? No. the RMC-1 is strictly a MIDI controller. All functions are MIDI controls, freely mappable to your DJ or production software of choice. Audio output to your sound system (and audio input for turntables, etc.) is handled via your existing Native Instruments Traktor compatible audio interface, such as the Audio 10.
How does it connect to my DJ setup? One USB cable. Power is via USB. – Is it hard to setup as a mixer if I don’t know much about MIDI mapping? The RMC-1 ships with a setup file and instructions which will configure Native Instruments Traktor software automatically for use with the RMC-1.
