WhatsApp has now rolled out an update for its app on Android and iOS, allowing users to share any type of file with each other.
Whether it’s a PDF document, a ZIP archive, an .XLS table, or even an .APK file, WhatsApp users can share files up to 100MB on Android and 120MB on iPhone.
This feature did show up for some users earlier but it seems the company is now rolling it out for the masses with the recent update. It’s not just that, the images you used to send via update also get some improvement. Previously, when users sent any high quality image through WhatsApp, the app used to optimize and deteriorate the quality of the image, but it will no longer do so. This means the images you send will have the same high quality as the original image. Bulk image sharing are also displayed as a group rather than each image individually.
Here’s the complete change log:
- You can now send documents of any type. To send a document, open a chat, tap attach — document.
- From the in-app camera, you can now swipe up to see all of your photos and videos.
- When typing text in a chat, you can tap and hold to select the text to easily bold, strikethrough, or italicize it.
- Various design improvements for voice and video calls.
