Volvo has announced that it plans to update its On Call app introduced back in 2001. The updated app will bring with it support for wearable devices such as Android Wear and the Apple Watch. With support for those wearables Volvo owners with the devices will be able to control settings of the car, lock and unlock the doors, and locate their car in a crowded parking lot from their wrist.
The updated app will also include a full iPad user interface and a Windows Phone version of the app. The Windows Phone version will support voice control via Cortana. Improved send to car capabilities for navigation are also to be included when the updated app launches in June.
“Volvo On Call is an app that allows you to literally take control over everyday elements in your Volvo. You can set heater timings for those cold and frosty mornings or cool down your car in hot weather, check your fuel level and mileage, or time to next service. It even helps you to locate your car in a crowded parking garage,” explains David Holecek, Director Connected Products and Services at Volvo Cars.
