Volvo has announced that it has teamed up with Spotify to bring in-car native streaming to certain Volvo cars wherever Spotify is available. The cars that will get the integrated streaming to begin are the XC90, S90, and V90 models. The Volvo Spotify app will launch this spring.
“Anyone that has used Spotify knows how great it is – you have access to your favourite music, all the time. We are very proud of our unique and custom-made interface for Spotify,” said Björn Annwall, Senior Vice President Marketing Sales and Service at Volvo Cars.
Spotify controls in the car will be shown on the big tablet-like touchscreen on the dash of the cars. Users will need no smartphone for streaming music while on the road with the new app. Spotify users who want to listen in the car will need a Premium subscription and a free 30-day trial will be offered with the purchase of the car. The Volvo app also has Spotify Connect functionality that allows passengers to use their device as a remote control without needing to connect the device to the car.
“As before you can still play music from your Spotify smartphone app in your car, or you can use the in-car app, which will contain all of your favourite playlists, artists and albums. And with Spotify’s ability to deliver extremely high quality streaming it has never been a better time to get the most out of the Bowers & Wilkins sound system in our new XC90, S90 and V90,” concluded Björn Annwall.
