Volvo has announced the fastest Polestar models ever offered packing 367hp each under the hood. The new Polestar cars include the S60 sedan and the V60 Estate. Both cars are able to reach 100 kmh in 4.7 seconds and have a stop speed of 250kmh. Both cars use an enhanced version of the Volvo four cylinder Drive-E platform.
The cars get improved performance thanks to a larger turbo, a supercharger, new connecting rods, new cams, larger air intake, and a higher capacity fuel pump. Power is paired with a BorgWarner all-wheel drive system and Polestar-optimized 8-speed Geartronic automatic transmission.
Volvo says that the new models mark the globalization of the brand. Polestar has announced that the markets where its cars will be offered has now expanded to 47 and production is being doubled to 1500 units per year. The engine in the cars makes 367hp and 470 Nm torque.
“All changes made to the car are about improving drivability and efficiency. The base of the new engine carries motorsport technology with solutions like the combination of turbo and supercharger, lightweight materials and more. This works hand-in-hand with our core philosophy and has enabled us to evolve the Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar,” said Henrik Fries, Vice President R&D, Polestar.
