In the US we have our own car-truck mash up with the Chevrolet El Camino. That vehicle has been out of production for a long time, but car/truck fans in the UK have been able to get hands on the Vauxhall Maloo for a while. The latest version of the Maloo is the Maloo LSA and while it is a bit odd looking, it is an awesome modern El Camino.
The Maloo LSA gets a supercharged 6.2L V8 making 536PS right out of the Camaro ZL1 sports car. That engine gives the Maloo LSA enough grunt to rocket from 0 to 62mph in 4.6 seconds. It has over 100PS and 100Nm of torque more than the outgoing Maloo model. Since the Maloo LSA is a truck, it is classified as a commercial vehicle and buyers can get the VAT back from the £54,500 price.
That is over $80,000 in the US and hardly what we would call reasonable. Manual transmission versions get launch control with all getting a limited slip diff, navigation, Bluetooth, leather trim, and enhanced driver interface. The truck also gets numerous exterior updated with a splitter and revised fascia along with black hood vents and 2-inch alloy wheels.
