Canonical has today announced that they are cutting the price of their new Ubuntu Edge smartphone down to $695 to try and help their struggling crowdfunding project which needs to raise $32 million by August 21st.
Currently the Ubuntu Edge smartphone project has only managed to raise just over $8.5 million dollars and the new price point is hoped that the project will get back on track.
Ubuntu Edge smartphone backers who have already pledged more than $695 for the handset will be refunded the difference says Canonical.
That new Ubuntu Edge smartphone price will now be fixed until the end of the Indiegogo campaign, so Ubuntu fans no longer need to worry about missing out on one of the company’s previously limited-quantity backer tiers.
