It can be a big challenge for teachers and parents to get children interested in science, technology, engineering, and math at an early age. These are the categories where many kids need the most help and one way to help get children interested is with cool toys that make learning fun. This is where the plush robot called Trobo comes in. Trobos are like stuffed animals that are able to connect wirelessly to iPhones and iPads.
The voice of the robot toys comes from the plush toy and they read digital storybooks to kids as the child looks at the digital books on the connected device. The stories are customized with the child’s name and likeness so the kids can see themselves in the story.
The toy is designed to target kids in the 2-7 age range. Trobo sought funding on Kickstarter and was successful at raising the $60,000 needed for development. Trobo is cheaper than you might imagine for a connected toy and can be pre-ordered for $59. It appears shipping will happen late in 2015. There are versions for boys and girls available.
