Someone is doing the ultimate engine swap on a Toyota 86, the Subaru BRZ clone. This isn’t the standard Chevy LS engine swap mind you. This GT 86 is getting the heart of an Italian exotic under its hood. You heard that right; the engine being swapped into the 86 is a V8 out of a Ferrari 458.
The build is coming along but must be incredibly complicated. Once done I am sure we will hear the beast screaming and burning tires with pro drifter Ryan Tuerck behind the wheel. Extensive mods were required to get the Ferrari heart into the Toyota with the windshield frame being cut.
How exactly the car will look remains to be seen. It appears that the massive V8 sits well above where the hood would normally close in the images. I hope this thing turns up in some drift races; I’d live to see that. I’d bet that Ferrari V8 alone cost more than a brand new Toyota 86. I presume that the donor Ferrari met a tragic end at some point to have given up its V8 heart for such a Frankenstein project.
