The new Audi R8 was made official back in October, the car is launching in the UK in early 2019 and now Audi has released a new video of their latest R8 in action.
In the video below we get to see the Audi R8 on the Ascari Racetrack in Spain, this is the naturally aspirated V10 model of the R8 and the engine sounds amazing.
Performance and Specifications
The 2019 Audi R8 is a testament to Audi’s commitment to blending luxury with high performance. The naturally aspirated V10 engine is a marvel of engineering, delivering a staggering 562 horsepower in the base model and up to 602 horsepower in the V10 Performance variant. This power allows the R8 to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 201 mph for the base model and 205 mph for the Performance variant. The engine’s responsiveness and the car’s aerodynamic design ensure that it handles like a dream on both the racetrack and the open road.
The R8’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system provides exceptional grip and stability, making it a joy to drive in various conditions. The car also features a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission, which offers smooth and rapid gear changes. The suspension system has been fine-tuned to provide a balance between comfort and performance, ensuring that the R8 is as capable on a daily commute as it is on a high-speed track day.
Design and Interior
The exterior design of the 2019 Audi R8 is both aggressive and elegant. The sharp lines and aerodynamic features not only enhance its visual appeal but also contribute to its performance. The large air intakes, rear diffuser, and retractable rear spoiler are all functional elements that help to manage airflow and improve downforce. The car is available in a range of striking colors, including the exclusive Kemora Gray and Ascari Blue.
Inside, the R8 offers a driver-focused cockpit with high-quality materials and advanced technology. The virtual cockpit display provides all the essential information directly in front of the driver, reducing the need to take your eyes off the road. The seats are upholstered in fine Nappa leather, and there are numerous customization options available, including carbon fiber trim and Alcantara headliners. The Bang & Olufsen sound system ensures that your driving soundtrack is as impressive as the car itself.
“The R8 occupies a unique position for Audi in every respect,” says Michael Julius Renz, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH. “It’s now even more powerful and faster.” adds Oliver Hoffmann, Technical Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH: “Motorsport is part of our DNA. With around 50 percent shared parts with the R8 LMS GT3, no other automobile is so close to motor racing as the R8.”
The R8’s connection to motorsport is evident in its design and performance. The car shares around 50 percent of its parts with the R8 LMS GT3 race car, including the V10 engine. This close relationship with racing technology ensures that the R8 delivers an exhilarating driving experience that is hard to match.
