The vast majority of cars have one thing in common no matter the brand or how much you spend. They all have an instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently responded to a potential Model 3 buyer who asked a question about a central speedometer. Specifically the twitter user “Nick wants a Tesla” asked if buyers could please have a central speedo for those who don’t want autopilot.
Musk simply replied “No.” Nick then said that he would be willing to spend the extra $50 to get a 2-inch LCD speedo if nothing else. Musk replied to that stating “You won’t care.” Nick then thought perhaps there would be a HUD in the car, and Musk shot that down too saying no to the HUD.
Musk was later asked by someone else if there will be any significantly new tech in the car, Musk said “Nothing majorly new that a consumer would notice. Lots of new tech in the design and production process though.”
