This week Tesla the company created by Elon Musk, announced that the company will be soon launching new Tesla home battery packs that will be capable of powering a home.
The news was revealed during the company’s earnings call, during which Tesla CTO JB Straubel said that the car company would most likely hold an event in the next few months.
The new Tesla home battery packs are expected to go into production in the next six months and have been discussed by Tesla before. Last year during an earnings call Elon Musk described his desire to create hardware that would live in consumers’ homes, instead of their cars. Musk explains :
“We are trying to figure out what would be a cool stationary (battery) pack,”-“Some will be like the Model S pack: something flat, 5 inches off the wall, wall mounted, with a beautiful cover, an integrated bi-directional inverter, and plug and play.”
Unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet by Tesla, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always.
