If you are lucky enough to already own a HTC Vive virtual reality headset you might be interested in a new update that has been roll-out first to the SteamVR Beta software that allows you to change the skin of your HTC Vive controller and base station.
There are plenty of skins that have been created by the Vive community which are now available to download and use for free enabling you to customise your controller and base station to suit your tastes and gaming preference.
Instructions have been posted over on the Steam Community forums explaining exactly how you can now change the skin on your Vive controller :
How to install skins
– Download the skin texture (from the “Texture link” column)
– Rename the file “onepointfive_texture.png”
– Go to Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR(or OpenVR)\resources\rendermodels\vr_controller_vive_1_5
– Place the texture in that directory, if it asks to replace files select “Yes”How to restore the original skin
– Download the “Original” skin (the very first one on the table)
– Rename the file “onepointfive_texture.png”
– Go to Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR(or OpenVR)\resources\rendermodels\vr_controller_vive_1_5
– Place the texture in that directory, if it asks to replace files select “Yes”
