If you have pre-ordered a Samsung Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge on Sprint, then your handset should start shipping today.
Sprint announced last week that they would start shipping out pre-orders of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge from the 6th of April.
Specifications and Features
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are powered by Samsung’s new flagship mobile processor, the Exynos 7420. This advanced chipset is built on a 14nm process, which offers improved performance and energy efficiency compared to its predecessors. Both devices come with a 5.1 inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, providing stunning clarity and vibrant colors.
The display on the S6 Edge is particularly noteworthy due to its unique curved edges, which not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also offer additional functionality. For instance, the curved edges can display notifications, a clock, and other useful information even when the phone is lying flat on a surface.
Both handsets come with 3GB of RAM, ensuring smooth multitasking and performance. Users can choose from three storage options: 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. However, it’s important to note that there is no microSD card slot on either handset, so users should choose their storage option wisely based on their needs.
Software and User Experience
Both devices come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, along with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. TouchWiz has been refined over the years to offer a more streamlined and user-friendly experience. It includes a range of features and customization options that allow users to tailor their device to their preferences.
One of the standout features of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge is the camera. Both devices are equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera that includes optical image stabilization (OIS), which helps to reduce blur and improve low-light performance. The front-facing camera is 5 megapixels, making it ideal for selfies and video calls.
In terms of connectivity, both the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge support a wide range of networks and technologies, including 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and NFC. This ensures that users can stay connected and enjoy fast data speeds wherever they are.
Another notable feature is the inclusion of a fingerprint scanner, which is integrated into the home button. This allows for secure and convenient unlocking of the device, as well as authentication for various services and applications.
The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge also come with a range of sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, compass, and barometer. These sensors enable a variety of features and applications, from fitness tracking to navigation.
Battery life is always a critical consideration for smartphone users, and Samsung has equipped both the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge with a 2550mAh and 2600mAh battery, respectively. Both devices support fast charging, allowing users to quickly top up their battery when needed. Additionally, they support wireless charging, providing even more convenience.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge represent a significant step forward in terms of design, performance, and features. Whether you’re a power user looking for top-tier specs or someone who appreciates a beautifully designed device, these handsets have a lot to offer.
