At the Mobile World Conference 2016 taking place in Barcelona this week Sony has unveiled a couple of new smartphones together with a range of new concept devices one of which takes the form of the Sony Xperia Agent personal assistant.
The Xperia Agent is fitted with a rotating camera and takes the form of a rather small robot that is capable of rotating on the spot and has been designed to compete with the likes of Amazon’s Echo personal assistant which was launched in the US last year.
Using the built-in camera the personal assistant is capable of facial recognition and like the Amazon Echo is capable of providing notifications about appointments, reminders, weather and more. To communicate information the Xperia Agent is equipped with a small projector that is capable of showing imagery on a desktop surface in front of where you position the device and offers an interactive user interface that you can touch or modify as required.
Check out the video below to see Sony’s vision of communication using their hardware in the future. As soon as more information becomes available regards the Xperia Agent weather will actually make its way into the consumer market we will keep you updated as always.
