Sony has unveiled plans to revamp and relaunch its 3D virtual social gaming network, PlayStation Home which has been used by over 23 million users worldwide since its original launch. The new redesign and launch hopes to providing a new world of games to PS3 gamers and develop PlayStation Home into a more engaging social gaming platform for PS3 owners.
The newly designed update will be arriving this fall and Sony hopes to transform PlayStation Home from just a virtual environment to a world of games. Enabling players to rapidly interact and connect with friends and other gamers of similar styles and interests using “Themed Districts”.
Jack Buser, director of PlayStation Home, explains what Sony’s expecting to achieve with the new PlayStation Home relaunch.
“PlayStation Home’s new core experience is a giant leap in the evolution of the platform, not to mention a major milestone for PlayStation Network, and its new model quickly deploys our users to many compelling free-to-play games that fit their interests,” – “With this update, coming this fall, PlayStation Home becomes a game itself, making it the most robust gamified social experience available.”
Playstation Home is currently available directly from the PlayStation 3 XrossMediaBar under PlayStation Network and membership is free, and only requires you to have a PSN account.
