Sony has added two new compact digital cameras to its Cyber-Shot range with the launch of the Sony Cyber-Shot WX1 and TX1. These new models aim to provide high-quality imaging capabilities in a compact and user-friendly design, making them ideal for both amateur photographers and seasoned professionals looking for a portable option.
Sony Cyber-Shot WX1: Features and Specifications
The Sony WX1 comes with a 2.7 inch LCD display, a 10.2 megapixel sensor, and a 5x optical zoom lens ranging from 24mm to 120mm at f/2.4. This wide aperture allows for better low-light performance and more creative control over depth of field. Additionally, the WX1 can record video in 720p, making it versatile for both still photography and video recording.
One of the standout features of the WX1 is its Exmor R CMOS sensor, which enhances image clarity and reduces noise, especially in low-light conditions. This sensor technology is particularly beneficial for night photography or indoor settings where lighting is less than ideal. The camera also includes Sony’s BIONZ image processor, which ensures fast performance and accurate color reproduction.
Moreover, the WX1 offers several shooting modes, including Intelligent Auto, which automatically adjusts settings based on the scene, and Sweep Panorama, which allows users to capture wide-angle shots by sweeping the camera across the scene. These features make the WX1 a versatile tool for various photographic scenarios.
Sony Cyber-Shot TX1: Features and Specifications
The TX1 comes with a 10.2 megapixel sensor and a 3 inch touchscreen display, which provides an intuitive interface for navigating menus and reviewing photos. It also features optical image stabilization, which helps to reduce blur caused by camera shake, ensuring sharper images even in challenging shooting conditions. The TX1 is equipped with a 4x zoom Carl Zeiss lens, known for its high-quality optics and sharpness.
Like the WX1, the TX1 can also shoot HD video in 720p, making it a dual-purpose device for both photography and videography. The camera’s touchscreen interface allows for easy access to settings and shooting modes, enhancing the user experience. Additionally, the TX1 includes features such as Face Detection and Smile Shutter, which automatically captures photos when a subject smiles, making it perfect for candid shots and portraits.
The TX1 also incorporates Sony’s innovative Handheld Twilight and Anti Motion Blur modes. These modes use advanced algorithms to combine multiple shots into a single image, significantly reducing noise and blur in low-light conditions. This makes the TX1 an excellent choice for night photography or indoor events where lighting is limited.
Both the Sony WX1 and TX1 are designed to be compact and lightweight, making them easy to carry around for everyday use or travel. They offer a range of advanced features typically found in larger, more expensive cameras, providing excellent value for their price points.
The Sony WX1 will retail for $350 whilst the TX1 will retail for $380. Both of these new models will go on sale in September, offering consumers a choice between two high-performance compact cameras that cater to different preferences and shooting styles.
