Solidoodle has this week announced that their new Solidoodle 3 3D printer is now available to pre-order, and offers one of the largest build areas in the consumer 3D printer market.
Being 2 inches bigger in all directions than the previous the Solidoodle 2, the new Solidoodle 3 printer now offers a printable dimension of 8″ x 8″ x 8″ or 512 cubic inches to users. This significant increase in build volume allows for the creation of larger and more complex objects, making it an attractive option for hobbyists, educators, and professionals alike. Enhanced Features and Usability
The Solidoodle 3 is designed with user-friendliness in mind, ensuring that even those new to 3D printing can get started with minimal hassle. It comes pre-assembled, so users can begin printing almost immediately after unboxing. The printer supports a variety of filament types, including PLA and ABS, providing flexibility depending on the user’s needs and preferences. Additionally, the Solidoodle 3 includes a heated build platform, which helps to prevent warping and ensures better adhesion of the printed objects.
“I’m absolutely ecstatic about the success we’ve seen this year,” says Solidoodle CEO Sam Cervantes. “By offering the Solidoodle 3, we will be able to help satisfy a need for an even larger-format 3D printer while keeping with our focus on affordability and usability.”
Applications and Community Impact
The larger build area of the Solidoodle 3 opens up new possibilities for various applications. For instance, educators can use the printer to create detailed models for science and engineering classes, enhancing the learning experience for students. Hobbyists can take on more ambitious projects, such as creating custom parts for DIY electronics or intricate cosplay accessories. Small businesses and startups can also benefit from the Solidoodle 3 by prototyping products quickly and cost-effectively.
Moreover, the Solidoodle community has been growing steadily, with users sharing their creations and tips online. This collaborative environment fosters innovation and helps new users overcome challenges they might face when starting out with 3D printing.
The Solidoodle 3 3D printer is now available to pre-order for $800 with a wait of around 8-10 weeks. This price point makes it one of the more affordable options in the market for a printer of its size and capabilities, further democratizing access to 3D printing technology.
