The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Edge are expected to be announced early next year, possibly at Mobile World Congress in February.
Now it would appear that we have some possible specifications for the new Samsung Galaxy S8, although these are just rumored specifications at the moment.
Display and Processor
The handsets are expected to feature a 5.5 inch display with a 4K resolution, which would be a significant upgrade from the previous models. A 4K display would not only enhance the visual experience for everyday use but also make the device more suitable for virtual reality applications, a growing trend in the tech industry. They will apparently be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor, which promises better performance and efficiency. There may also be another version with a new Samsung Exynos processor, probably the Exynos 8895. The Exynos 8895 is expected to offer similar performance metrics, ensuring that both versions of the Galaxy S8 deliver a seamless user experience.
Memory and Storage
Other rumored specifications in the new Galaxy S8 include 6GB of RAM, which would make multitasking smoother and more efficient. This is a significant upgrade from the 4GB of RAM found in the Galaxy S7, allowing for better performance in demanding applications and games. Additionally, there will be a choice of storage options up to 256GB. This expanded storage capacity is particularly useful for users who store a lot of media files, apps, and games on their devices. The inclusion of a microSD card slot for expandable storage is also anticipated, providing even more flexibility for users.
Camera and Additional Features
We can also expect the cameras on both handsets to get upgraded. It is possible that Samsung may choose a dual camera setup on the back, similar to the iPhone 7 Plus. A dual camera system could offer improved photo quality, better low-light performance, and advanced features like optical zoom and portrait mode. The front-facing camera is also expected to see improvements, possibly featuring higher resolution and better low-light capabilities, making it ideal for selfies and video calls.
In addition to these hardware upgrades, the Galaxy S8 is likely to come with a range of new software features. Samsung’s TouchWiz interface is expected to receive an update, offering a more streamlined and user-friendly experience. The device may also come with enhanced security features, such as an improved fingerprint scanner and possibly even an iris scanner, similar to the one found on the Galaxy Note 7.
Another exciting possibility is the inclusion of Samsung’s new AI assistant, rumored to be called “Bixby.” This assistant could offer advanced voice control features, integrating seamlessly with Samsung’s ecosystem of devices and services.
As soon as we get some more details about the new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Edge, we will let you guys know.
